Say hello
Write to Proof of Budget
Questions, an idea for a new tool, a bug that tripped you up? Write a note. It opens in your own email app, addressed to hello@proofofbudget.com, so you can read it over before anything is sent. The page itself sends nothing.
Write your note
What we can and cannot do
Happy to help with
- Explaining how a tool arrives at a number
- Bug reports, with a note on what you typed and what you expected
- Ideas for envelopes, tools or clearer wording
Not able to do
- Give personal financial advice or recommend products
- See or recover your budget. It lives only in your browser, on your device
- Look at your accounts. We never ask for them
Your data on this device
Proof of Budget keeps your work in your browser's own storage. Here is what is saved right now, and how to take it with you or wipe it.
Copy a backup
Make a text backup of everything, then store it somewhere safe, such as a note to yourself.
Restore from a backup
Paste a backup you made earlier. Restoring replaces what is saved on this device for the tools it contains.
Erase everything saved here
This clears your planner, sinking funds and debts from this browser. It cannot be undone, so make a backup first if you might want it back.
Really erase it all? Your envelopes, goals and debts will be removed from this device.
Tip: some browsers keep a separate store for each page when files are opened straight from a folder. If your budget seems missing on another page, open the site from the same place each time.

Quick answers
Why does my email app open instead of a form sending the message?
Because this site does not send anything anywhere. The button builds an email addressed to hello@proofofbudget.com and hands it to your own mail program, where you can edit it and press send yourself. If nothing opens, use "Copy the message" and paste it into any email, or write to hello@proofofbudget.com directly.
Will you see my budget numbers?
No. Your envelopes, goals and debts never leave your device, and they are not added to the email unless you type them into your message yourself. If you are reporting a bug, a description such as "I entered an income, added three envelopes, and the tape showed a negative amount" is more than enough.
Is Proof of Budget connected to a bank or budgeting company?
No. It is independent and not affiliated with any bank, lender, credit service or other budgeting product. It is a small set of calculators that follow one idea: every dollar gets a job.
